Adult Faith Formation

Adult Faith Formation efforts at St. Patrick Parish began as the result of the 1998 Parish Visitation Report. Goal # 2 of that Visitation was "initiate, implement and support an Adult Education Program". To that end, a committee of 6 parishioners was formed in February, 2001 chaired by Joan Kilday Puleo, Parish Coordinator of Lay Ministry. Using the U.S. Bishop's document, "Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us" A Pastoral Plan for Adult Faith Formation as the blueprint, this committee restated the goal as " initiate, develop, implement and support a Parish Adult Faith Formation Program. Adult Faith Formation is defined as a process "by which people consciously grow in the life of Christ through experience, reflection, prayer and study...through developing in adults a better understanding of and participation in the full sacramental life of the Church" ......in other words, engaging in lifelong learning about and living of our Catholic Faith.

Mission Statement of St. Patrick Parish Adult Faith Formation Committee:

The Adult Faith Formation Committee at St. Patrick Parish exists to make life long learning about and practical living of our Roman Catholic faith an intentional planned reality in the Parish.

Formed by the Word of God, strengthened by the Eucharist and inspired by the Spirit, St. Patrick parishioners, regardless of age, are invited, encouraged and challenged to continue developing their faith knowledge and spirituality.

Working in partnership with all identified parish groups and with cluster parishes, the Adult Faith Formation Committee accepts and respects each parishioner's unique faith journey by offering a diversity of programs and resources within an atmosphere of welcome.

By promoting active participation in diverse spiritual, social, educational and service opportunities and programs, the Adult Faith Formation Committee empowers each parishioner to better understand and embrace Gospel values, thereby assisting parishioners to witness and share those values within their Church, home, neighborhood, workplace and broader society.
