Summer Discussion Group - Join us this summer on Thursday evenings from 7:30 -8:30pm to reflect upon Raniero Cantalamessa's book "The Mystery of God's Word". While there is no specific feast that celebrates the preaching of Jesus, the Liturgy of the Word each day recalls Christ's preaching. Following Canatalmessa (preacher to the papal household), we will discuss why and how the Liturgy of the Word is nothing other than the liturgical actualization of the preaching of Christ and what this means for us as hearers and proclaimers of God's Word. The following topics will be considered: The mystery of the Word of God in salvation history; The Word of God in the Church; the Word in the life of the proclaimer; the content of Christian preaching; Word of God and word of ours; the Holy Spirit and the proclamation of the Word; The Word of God in the personal life of the Christian; the spiritual interpretation of the Bible. Our first meeting will be May 17th. For more information, contact Fr. David at frdavid@pittsburghoratory.org. Weekly Prayer for the Unborn - A group meets at the Newman Center, Saturdays at 7:30am to pray at the abortion clinic in E. Liberty for the souls of the unborn children killed there, and for the conversion of the mothers and clinic staff. Much more a spiritual work of mercy than a political rally, the intention is to be a presence of divine love and joy to the mothers and children, who could otherwise feel "left alone" in their suffering.
