Circle of the Holy Spirit:  The Circle will host a potluck dinner on Monday, September 8 at 6:30 pm in our parish hall.  Guests will be the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ from Prayer Town.  Sr. Rita will speak on her travels to Africa and will ask for our help in assisting them in meeting the many needs they have.  All parishioners are invited to attend.  Please bring your favorite potluck dish and help us welcome the Sisters from Prayer Town to our parish.  If you have any questions, please call Judy Smith.

RCIA:  RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) will begin on Wednesday, September 10 at 6:30 pm in the parish hall.  If you are interested in becoming Catholic, or just learning more about the Catholic faith, please join us!

Appropriate Attire for Mass During the Summer:
Please practice the virtue of prudence when choosing what you should wear to Mass during the summer months when weather is hot (and occasionally humid).  Prudence disposes a person to choose what is good and right in every circumstance--in this case what is appropriate and NOT appropriate to wear when we come to Mass.  The practice of this virtue is self-evident in a person who shows modesty in his or her speech and action, most especially in proper clothing.  As members of the Body of Christ, the Church, to show reverence and respect to one another and to God by what we say and do is a way of life.

Chewing Gum and Cell Phones:  Please get rid of your chewing gum before you enter the main body of the church.  There are trash cans available in the sacristy and the rest rooms.  Also, please turn off your cell phone before Mass begins.  Those who work for emergency services, medical and police services are exempt from turning off cell phones (please put them on "vibrate" if possible).  Thank you!

Year of St. Paul, Apostle to the Gentiles:   The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, has declared the year of St. Paul which began on  Saturday, June 28, 2008 and to end of June 29, 2009.  During this year, the entire Church commemorates the life of the Great Apostle Paul and his writings found in the New Testament.  In this year of St. Paul, we look for guidance from this apostle who lived during the time of Christ and had an important impact on our early Church.  The Vatican has designated an Internet site to the life and writings of St. Paul.  The English site is available here as well as in Español.

Make a Difference!:  Come and make a difference!  Share your talents with your faith community.  Singers and instrumentalists:  all are welcome.  We are particularly looking for more pianists and organists.  If you are interested or have questions, call Mary Freund-Braun at 655-3302 x2.

"The Mass is Ended ...":  These are the words that send us forth to live out the mystery that we have just celebrated at the Eucharist, the source and summit of the life of the Church.  These words also announce the actual end of the Mass.  After Mass it is appropriate to spend some time in quiet prayer and thanksgiving for what we have received.  Thus, it is most beneficial to remain in church until we are sent forth and have spent time in prayer.  Please refrain from leaving Mass before these moments.  To keep time with the Lord should neither be rushed nor cause undue impatience, but it should be done with a deep awareness that we desire to pass quality time with Him whom we love and worship.

Save the Date!:  St. Ann's Parish will host the first annual Parish Fair on Sunday, September 14, 2008 from 5:30-7:30 pm.  Come and join us for food and fellowship!  There will be a potluck dinner.  Meet your fellow parishioners and visit booths sponsored by the different ministries and organizations of our parish.

Stained Glass Windows:
We are happy to announce that all the windows have been reserved.  We would like to thank everyone for your generosity.  There will be a liturgy when the windows will be blessed to give thanks to God for these gifts to glorify our faith in Him.

Ministry to the Sick and Dying:  When Jesus cared for the sick and dying, the Lord extended God's mercy and love.  The Lord continues his ministry through the universal Church.  as a community of faithful, we continue to carry out this ministry of the Lord.  Therefore, the purpose and goal of the ministry of the sick and dying at our parish is to insure that pastoral care is extended to those who are sick and dying in our parish.  The coordinators of this ministry are Nancy Shehan and Debbie Vega.  If you need assistance in this capacity, please contact Nancy or Debbie.

Canyon Cares:  Canyon Cares is requesting that St. Ann's parishioners donate pasta (in 1 pound sizes) for their food pantry.  Please drop it by our hall or take it directly to Canyon Cares at 1719 5th Ave.

Catholic Museum:  The Catholic Museum, located at 2200 North Spring (by Bishop DeFalco Retreat Center and St. Laurence Cathedral), is open every Friday from 9:30 am until noon.  The next open house will be on Sunday, August 10, from 2-4 pm.

Wine Raffle:  The Bishop DeFalco Retreat Center is in need of wine donations for the 5th Annual Wine Raffle, which is Wednesday, September 17.  Please contact Robert or Janet at 383-1811 for more information.  The wine raffle is a major fundraising event for the retreat center.

Theology Workshop:  Sr. Sara Butler will present The Catholic Priesthood & Women: A Guide to the Teaching of the Church at the Bishop DeFalco Retreat Center on Friday, September 12 from 7-9 pm and/or Saturday, September 13 from 9 am until 3 pm.  Call 383-1811 for more information.

Nursery and Cry Rooms:  The nursery and cry rooms are available during every weekend Mass.  The nursery, located in the hall, is staffed by our parishioners who will take good care of your children.  The cry rooms are available in the back of the church, and are accessible from the narthex.

Legion of Mary:  The Legion of Mary would like to bring a beautiful statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary  to your home.  We would pray the rosary with your family and leave the statue with your family for two weeks.  Your family would pray the rosary or other Marian prayers each day asking for Mary to intercede for your family and any other intentions you may have.  If you are interested or would just like more information, please call Mary Rausch or Pat and Nancy Shehan.  A Legion member will contact you to set up a time for us to visit your family.  The Legion of Mary meets every Thursday at 7 pm in the parish hall to pray and talk about our faith.  We invite you to come and inquire about our ministries.

Permanent Diaconate Program:  The Permanent Diaconate program resumed its training for new candidates.  St. Ann's has one candidate, Dave Rausch, who has been accepted into the formation program.  His training will take place with the hope of ordination in June 2011.  Please pray for Dave so that he may persevere toward ordination.

Votive Candles:  Once again we have votive candles available in the church and chapel for you to light.  Lighting candles is part of our practices of piety.  The candle is a small way for you to make an offering to God and also to sustain your prayer long after you leave church.
