Prayer

Weekly Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament:  St. Ann's has adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on a weekly basis every Monday of the month from 9 am to 6 pm in the chapel.  This is a wonderful opportunity for prayer.  Come and spend time with the Lord, truly present, body, blood, soul and divinity.  We have ten people who are willing to commit the time each Monday and spend that precious hour in the presence of our Savior.  It is the duty of these ten to be present and to pray for the intentions of the parish, the diocese and the universal Church.  More specifically, these ten men and women are charged with a special ministry making them responsible for offering up to the Lord the cares and concerns of our parish community so that the Lord may assist us.  We have an intention booklet available in the narthex of the church where our parishioners may write their intentions.  These intentions will be offered up to the Lord by those ten people who have committed to pray on behalf of their brothers and sisters.  This is a wonderful opportunity for our parishioners to pray for each other, most especially for those who are not able to pray for some reason and for those who need the extra assistance in prayer.  This practice is in keeping with our Catholic tradition of praying on behalf of others in the same way the saints are praying and interceding on our behalf in heaven with God.  Jesus said to Peter, "Can you not stay awake and keep watch with me for even an hour?" (Mark 14:37).

Communal Prayer and Intentions
Pray the Rosary and the Liturgy of the Hours every day
Our communal intentions are:
  1. For Bishop Zurek and all the priests of the Amarillo Diocese.
  2. For our youth, may God help them to grow up to be strong and faithful Catholic Christians.
  3. For those who do not come to Mass or have left the Church, may God bring them back to church on a regular basis.
  4. For an end of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and a safe return of our troops to their families and friends.
  5. For all families and married people, especially those experiencing a crisis in their family and marriage.
  6. For our families and parish community, that God may help us to grow in faith, hope, and love.
  7. For the conversion of Europe, that European Christians may be renewed in their zeal to practice their faith.
Remember to pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life, especially in our diocese and country.  Ask God to call young men and women to a life of service in the Church as priests and religious, most especially from St. Ann's Parish in Canyon.  It is time that we have a vocation to the priesthood from our parish.  "The harvest is plenty but the laborers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers."  Please pray for Dave Rausch, who is a candidate for the permanent diaconate.  Also pray for our two of our diocesan seminarians, Garrett Meyer and Carmelo Morales, who are studying for the priesthood.
