St.
Anthony School
is a Catholic Elementary
School located at 900
Franklin Street in old Gretna. A dedicated lay faculty staffs the
school. It provides quality education for students in Preschool 3 through Grade
8. As students progress through the grades, their educational experiences
include traditional learning as well as modern technology. The school has modern
science and computer labs. In addition
to computers in every classroom, there are also three portable computer labs
for use in the classrooms. Students are encouraged to develop to their
potential through academics as well as through programs such as extracurricular
activities and the guidance programs.
St. Anthony
School is a fully accredited school and has served the Westbank
community since 1954. St. Anthony holds membership in the National Catholic
Education Association, the Association of Supervision and Curriculum
Development, the National Middle School Association, the Louisiana Middle
School Association, the Archdiocesan Middle School Association, Citizens for
Educational Freedom and the Early Childhood Association.
St.
Anthony's small student body of approximately 250 students provides an ideal
opportunity for individual student growth. As a Catholic school, all personnel
strive to help students live their Catholic faith. The pastor of St. Anthony
Church is Rev. Patrick Gannon. Mrs.
Marie K. Cannon is the principal. The faculty includes many experienced
teachers, giving St. Anthony a wonderful stability and an excellent learning
environment.
