The Angel Tree
 [Top]

The Angel Tree provides Christmas presents to needy parishioners and community organizations such as Holy Family Institute, Auberle, Miryam’s House, and Life Line.  An angel tree is put up in the church approximately the last weekend of November.  Parishioners choose an angel, buy a gift for the person on their tag, and bring the gift back to church.  The gifts are then sorted and distributed.  Volunteers are needed at each of the Sunday Masses throughout the Angel Tree “Drive”.

The Angel Tree will go up Sat., Nov. 29, 2003.  Gifts will be collected after all weekend masses through December 14th.

Miryam’s House

Miryam’s House provides sanctuary, care, service and community to homeless women whose capacity to care for themselves is significantly impaired by chronic mental illness. The programs include Hospitality and Day Care Program, Specialized Residence Program, Next Step Bridge Housing Program, and Aftercare Program.  Miryam’s House is located at 1410 Fifth Avenue.

Every second Monday of the month, volunteers are needed to prepare some part of the meal that feeds the women at Miryam’s House. You may contribute to this meal either with food, a monetary contribution, or by helping to serve the meal.  At Christmastime, Miryam’s Women receive Angel gifts from St. Bede Parish.

Thanksgiving Clothing Drive for Eastern Kentucky
 [Top]

St. Bede Parish conducted the first clothing drive in 1988.  The commitment continues every November to support Msgr. Beiting’s efforts to help people in the Eastern Kentucky region through donations of clothing (especially children’s), toys, cribs, household items, bedding and useable furniture.  Donations are collected in the school, sorted and boxed by parish and school volunteers, including the 8th grade class.  They are then shipped to Kentucky.

The drive is held during November with transportation to Kentucky on Thanksgiving weekend.
