Altar Servers
(Top)

Students in grades 4 - 8 have the privilege of serving on the altar.  Students who choose this privilege are expected to fulfill missed classroom responsibilities.  Servers are expected to be in the sacristy 15 minutes before the Liturgical service to which they are assigned.



Assemblies
(Top)

Assemblies are held for children throughout the school year.  The assemblies are planned in conjunction with the principal, faculty, student council, and the PTG.


 
Electives
(Top)

Students in seventh and eighth grade participate in the elective program.  Twice a year they are given the opportunity to choose a special class, not offered as part of the regular curriculum, to study.  Electives meet every Monday for one 40-minute period.  Electives are taught by St. Bede faculty and vary in topic, usually reflecting a teacher's interests and strengths.
 
 

Field Trips

Teachers, with the cooperation of the Parent Teacher Guild, may arrange field trips with their classes during the year.  Every child must have a signed permission slip in order to participate in the field trip.  Parents may be asked to provide part or all of the costs involved, chaperone, and participate in transportation, depending on the kind of field trip arranged.
 
 

Instrumental Band

Group lessons in trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, or saxophone are offered to students in grades 4-8 on Tuesdays, on a rotating basis.  Children are required to rent or purchase their own  instrument and book.  There is a minimal fee for the lessons. Student Council

The organizational goal of the St. Bede Student Council is to foster espirit de corps through student planning and implementation of school activities.  The Student Council sponsors social events, such as dances, pep rallies, and assemblies.  They raise money for various charitable causes, such as Chimbote, Catholic Charities, and the Holy Family Institute.  They sponsor an annual food drive each Thanksgiving and plan a school-wide Thanksgiving Liturgy.

Student Council consists of students from grades 5-8.  Elections are held in grades 4-8 and the following officers are chosen: President, Vice-president, Secretary, and Treasurer.  Any student on the ballot in the General Election and not chosen to be an officer will be a representative. The officers are given the charge of planning and running the meetings with the help of the faculty advisors.


Violin

Violin instruction is offered, at St. Bede School, by the Seton Suzuki School of Music, 561-5511, to children in grades K-8 every Monday and Wednesday.  There is a minimal fee for the instrument rental and instructions.
 
 

Worship
(Top)

Every Friday at 9am all students attend Mass which specific grade levels (3-8) help to prepare and participate in.  They also join in special paraliturgical celebrations, such as, prayer and penance services, throughout the year.  From fourth grade on the students may prepare to be Altar Servers.  These Altar Servers serve the morning Masses daily.                                            Friday Mass Schedule
