GOALS
1. Mastery of grammar, spelling, and structure of the English language through reading and writing assignments
2. To become critical readers of a variety of texts, including: short stories, poetry, nonfiction, and media
3. To develop peer editing skills
4. To become expert writers

English Textbook: Elements of Writing

GRADING
The points you earn for each homework assignment, quiz, and test will be added and divided by the total points possible for each quarter.  Quizzes will be given after most stories in Reading, and tests will typically be given at the end of a Reading or English unit.  

HOMEWORK
Homework will be given on most nights and may include reading assignments, questions, vocabulary, essays, or other writing assignments.  Homework will be due the following day, unless otherwise indicated. 

Long-term assignments, such as research reports, will be given in each quarter.  You will be given due dates, and are expected to hand in the work according to the dates given.
