The PTG - Who We Are

All parents/guardians of students who are enrolled at St. Bede School comprise the membership of the Parent-Teacher Guild (PTG).  The objectives of the PTG include providing encouragement and involvement in all school-related activities and programs and organizing and directing fundraising events for the school.  Every St. Bede School family is a member of the PTG.

Parent participation may include activities such as serving on committees, serving as a homeroom parent, chaperoning class trips, helping with projects, plays or parties, assisting in the lunchroom, and undertaking the responsibilities for special projects and activities.  In addition, the PTG sponsors many activities throughout the year in order to meet our fundraising goals so that St. Bede School may continue to be a special place for our children.

The Diocese of Pittsburgh mandates that tuition cover 65% of the operating budget of the school, that the parish subsidize 25% of the operating budget, and that fundraising cover the remaining 10% of the operating budget.  Our operating budget for the 2007-08 school year is estimated at $1,367,090.00; which means through the fundraising efforts of the PTG, together with the Athletic Association, and combined with outright donations to various funds such as The Angel Fund, the school community must raise approximately $136,709.00.

Through the years, St. Bede School and the PTG have been blessed to have so many families who are involved in our various school activities and we hope this tradition continues for years to come.  On this web site, you will find brief descriptions of the various activities sponsored by the PTG.  Not only are these activities an opportunity for us as parents to get involved in our children’s school but a wonderful chance to meet many new people and make friendships. We encourage everyone to become part of the St. Bede School community.

Please take a look over the activities and if you have any questions or would like to participate in an activity, contact either the Committee Chair or a PTG officer.

You may choose to pay the Activity fee in two installments:
1.    Submit one payment for the total amount due.  This payment was due by
August 15, 2006; or
2.    Pay your family fee in two installments.  The first payment for one-half of the fee is due immediately.  The second payment is due by September 16, 2006.
If you are unable to pay this obligation, you must contact Father Bryce.

FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES AND SUPPORT SPONSORED BY THE PTG

Homeroom Parents

Each grade has a primary homeroom parent who is responsible for assisting with homeroom activities and communicating with the PTG. This point-person may be assisted by two or three other homeroom parents, especially in the younger grades.  Homeroom activities include organizing holiday parties, watching the students during the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, providing the teachers with breakfast once during the school year, and accompanying the class on field trips. Chairperson: Carey Treado

Lunchroom Volunteer

Two adult lunchroom volunteers are needed daily from about 11:00 - 1:00.  Lunchroom volunteers assure the smooth continuation of the lunchroom period changes, help prepare the food, serve/sell hot lunch & snacks, and clean up afterwards.  What a great way to get a “behind-the-scenes” look at how and what your children are served for lunch.  Volunteers sign up based on their own personal availability - once a year, once per month, every two weeks, every week, every day! Please contact the coordinator Jennifer Seekings to volunteer in the lunchroom.

Santa's Treasure Shop

Santa's Treasure Shop is a long-time tradition at St. Bede. Throughout the year, Santa's helpers make purchases or accept donations which are then displayed and sold to the children at very low costs. This year Santa’s Treasure Shop will be held on Friday, December 9.  The gifts are then wrapped by volunteers for the children to take home and have their own special surprises for their loved ones on Christmas.  To make donations or volunteer, contact Gina Ayoob.

Also, use your Giant Eagle Advantage card to the “advantage” of our school.
