The Activity Fee is used for
a variety of co-curricular educational and religious activities for our
children. Field trips, school assemblies, special class celebrations, and
refreshments for faculty, student and parent activities throughout the
school year are all paid for by the Activity Fee.
You may choose to pay the Activity fee in two installments:
1. Submit one payment for the total amount due. This payment was
due by August
15, 2006; or
2. Pay your family fee in two installments. The first payment
for one-half of the fee is due immediately. The second payment is due
by September 16, 2006.
If you are unable to pay this obligation, you must contact Father
Bryce.

ACTIVITIES AND SUPPORT
SPONSORED BY THE PTG
Each grade has a primary homeroom parent who is responsible for assisting with homeroom activities and communicating with the PTG. This point-person may be assisted by two or three other homeroom parents, especially in the younger grades. Homeroom activities include organizing holiday parties, watching the students during the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, providing the teachers with breakfast once during the school year, and accompanying the class on field trips. Chairperson: Carey Treado
Two adult lunchroom volunteers are needed daily from about 11:00 - 1:00. Lunchroom volunteers assure the smooth continuation of the lunchroom period changes, help prepare the food, serve/sell hot lunch & snacks, and clean up afterwards. What a great way to get a “behind-the-scenes” look at how and what your children are served for lunch. Volunteers sign up based on their own personal availability - once a year, once per month, every two weeks, every week, every day! Please contact the coordinator Jennifer Seekings to volunteer in the lunchroom.
Santa's Treasure Shop is a long-time
tradition at St. Bede. Throughout the year, Santa's helpers make purchases
or accept donations which are then displayed and sold to the children at
very low costs. This year Santa’s Treasure Shop will be held on Friday,
December 9. The gifts are then wrapped by volunteers for the children to
take home and have their own special surprises for their loved ones on
Christmas. To make donations or volunteer, contact Gina Ayoob.
The School Store is open on Monday mornings and the children can buy supplies (erasers, pencils, "book socks", paper...) at this time.
The annual ice skating party is offered as a fun outing for families and
friends. Mark your calendar for Monday, January 15th, 7-9pm, at the
Schenley Park Ice Skating Rink. Watch for the flyers to come home.
Skating Party
Annual luncheon held in honor of our teachers during Catholic Schools Week. What a delightful way to show our appreciation to our wonderful teachers.
Uniform Exchange
The school uniform exchange continues throughout the year; bring
your too small uniforms, shirts, pants, and skirts, and exchange them
for the next size up. Don’t miss the opportunity to acquire some gently-worn
apparel free of charge. MaryAnne Linden is the chairperson for the Uniform
Exchange.
This is an informal, information packed opportunity for new and returning St. Bede school families to meet Ms. Mary Drummond, our principal; tour the school; register for the upcoming basketball and cross country seasons; shop at the School Store for supplies and the latest school apparel; pick up FREE gently used uniforms and apparel from our Uniform Exchange; meet the PTG officers; purchase Giant Eagle vouchers; and drop off your completed school forms from the Summer Packets. Both adults and children are welcome! Watch for a flier during the summer.
What’s your lucky number? This is a special fundraiser that involves
both parish and school families. Triple 3 is a one-time per year membership
of $100 (payable at once or in installments). Only 333 memberships are available,
as each member receives three numbers that could be winners. The winning
numbers are taken from the Pennsylvania Lottery on Saturday evenings
and $150 will be awarded every week! A members’ only party is held in
the summer.
Watch for the flyers that come home for more details. If you would
like more information about purchasing a membership, please contact Marybeth
Olander or Carey Treado.
“Sporting events” are offered from which the students can choose to participate
in - e.g., basketball, walk/jog; roller blade/scooter; dancing; and hoola-hoop,
to name a few. Before the event, the students collect “pledges” and
afterwards collect their pledges based on their accomplishments. Many
volunteers are needed the day of the event to help the students participate
in the events, and to organize and oversee the events. The Best of the
Bede will be held on May 25 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Sherri Knight and
Marcello Figallo are the chairpersons for this fun event.
Two book fairs are held during
the school year (November and April). Volunteers are needed for set-up
and break-down, sales, and helping the younger children in their selections.
Chairpersons: Susan Maskarinec and Pat Barbarino Perego.
General Mills offers "Box Tops for Education" on some of their products
and each Box Top is worth 10 cents! When you see the label "Box Tops,"
before you throw the package away, cut out the boxtop and either drop
it off in the vestibule of the church, in the school office, or send it
in with your child/ren. For more information, contact Kathy Brahan.

Recycling Program
Help St. Bede earn money by
recycling empty printer cartridges and used cell phones. More information
on this easy program will be coming home soon. Chairperson: Ray Fratto.
Giant Eagle Gift Cards can be purchased at the school office or after Masses on the weekends. Use the gift card at the checkout like a debit card; the amount of your purchase is deducted from the card each time you use it until the entire amount has been used. Contact Julie Klabnik or Jan Pearson for information or to volunteer to sell gift cards after Mass.
Also, use your Giant Eagle Advantage
card to the “advantage” of our school. The Giant Eagle Apples for the
Students program runs for 20 weeks from October 30, 2005 through March 18,
2006. Each time you use your Giant Eagle Advantage Card during the program
dates, you will earn points for our school - points the school saves and
redeems for great educational tools. In the past, we’ve “earned” computers
and an overhead projector . . . just to name a few. Enroll online at www.gianteagle.com
and be sure to use the St. Bede code #1040.
The Sally Foster and Harry London
Chocolate Sale will be held from September 2 through September 23. This
fundraiser raises 50 cents on the dollar for the school. Merchandise for
sale includes giftwrap, bows, ribbons, cards, stationery, and chocolates.
Purchased merchandise and chocolates will be delivered to the school in
November.
Also, you may purchase Sally Foster merchandise and Harry London Chocolate
online at http://www.sallyfoster.com/. By enrolling the children through
the website, and inputting the school number (0507654), the school will
continue to earn 50 profits through December. To help with Sally Foster,
please contact the Chair, Susan Clarke.
Sarris Candy is one of our Spring fundraisers, with delivery just in time for Easter! Contact Holly Morgan for information or to volunteer.
