"The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to little ones." Psalm 119:130

Sundays 10-11 A.M. during the school year.

The Early Childhood Catechesis Program is centered on preparing a child at 3, 4, and 5 year old level for the eventual awakening of faith.  Because of the nature of the young child, he or she requires a period during which religious sensitivity is developed.  This precedes formal efforts toward religious education if he or she is to grow to Christian maturity.  Our aim is to lay the groundwork for his or her gradual discovery of a personal relationship with God.

Goals of Early Childhood Catechesis:

A. Develop in the child a sense of wonder at the world around him or her.
B. Become sensitive to the spiritual needs of the child.
C. Help the child understand God as loving and caring Parent.
D. help the child appreciate self as a gift of God.
E. Provide an opportunity for children to develop an awareness of the presence of God in things and people.
F. Provide the child with a sense of belonging in the Christian Community.
G. Help the children experience joy and ease in spontaneous prayer.
H. The child is introduced to the attitudes and elements of celebrating and worship.
I. Develop in the child a quality of wonder, basic to building a child-like trust relationship with God.

"I Am Special" is the text series used for the Early Childhood Preschool 3's, 4's, and 5's.  The series invokes a happy, celebrational approach which respects the physical, psychological, emotional, intellectual and  religious readiness of each age level.  Themes are centered around the wonderful world God has created, beginning with the child, their family, and their community.
