Two Statues Blessed by Bishop Clark in Saint Dominic Parish Center

On Tuesday, September 4, 2001 Bishop Matthew H. Clark blessed two statues installed the previous day in the Saint Dominic Parish Center.
The ceremony was attended by some 70 people and was followed by Mass in the church.

The statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, now located in the northwest corner of the Parish Center,
was donated by Joseph and Nellie Commisso of Manchester, New York.

This statue was once located in Saint Dominic Chapel of Manchester.
After the closing of that chapel the statue was in the Commisso home for many years.
During the recent restoration of the large Sacred Heart statue in the church,
they loaned the statue to the parish, and later returned it for use in the Parish Center.
They also financed the restoration of the statue.

The statue of Our Lady of Lourdes, now located in the northeast corner of the Parish Center,
was donated by Doctor Richard Gagnier and his wife, Caroline.

This statue was once located in their parish of Saint Catherine of Siena in Mendon.
After the building of the new church, it was given to the Gagnier family.
Dr. and Mrs. Gagnier donated the statue to our parish and financed its restoration.
The three Gagnier children, Celeste, Michael and Dominique attended the blessing of the statues.

Our parish is grateful to Bishop Matthew Clark for taking the time to bless these statues for us.
