Generations of Faith – Resumed
We are now in the second semester of our Christian
Formation Program. Between now and the month of April, we will be
meeting every second Sunday of the Month, here at St. Paul. We
cannot emphasize the importance of attendance at these monthly
classes. Perhaps the most important facet of the program is the
attendance of the parents. The presence of the parents
accomplishes two major goals in our formation. One, it helps
adults to refresh or perhaps learn for the first time, the teachings of
the church to which we belong. Seeing things from an adult
perspective helps us to see and understand our faith anew, helping us
to live it with renewed zest and passion. The second goal is to
teach our children that our Faith is important enough for us to go out
of our way to learn more. Our act of presence teaches them more
than we can possibly imagine. See you this afternoon.

please remember to pick up a registration form for Religious Education
for the coming year. All children from grade K – the end of
Confirmation must register. The registration does not roll
over from one year to the next. You can pick up a form in the

you a form. We would be happy to do this
Grades K- 3 Classes for children
in these grades has resumed on the weekend of September 16/17.
Grades 4 – 10 + Last
year we initiated a new program for the children in these grade
levels. The classes are held once a month and the program is
geared to the entire family. Parents are strongly urged to attend the
sessions as there is an adult component to the program which helps them
to deepen their knowledge of the faith as well as making it possible
for them to compliment the practice of the faith in the home. Our
first class was held on Sunday, October 15, 2006. Our
next class is scheduled for January 14th. This
year, the classes will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 pm here at St. Paul’s.

Question of the Week
2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Theme: (Called to Share in the Glory of Christ)
Reading Isaiah 62:1-5(The Groom Rejoices in His Bride )
Reading Cor. 12: 4-11 (One and the Same Spirit)
Gospel: John 2:1-11 (The Wedding at Cana)
Question
for Adults:
What helps me to come to a deeper faith in Christ? This
week’s story of the wedding at Cana is truly a story of trust and
faith. Mary is the perfect model of this faith. She did not
need to have proof of Jesus’ powers. She knew that he could
perform miracles – she had no doubt seen the evidence previous to this
episode. Although he responds as though he does not care about
the situation, she trusts that he will do what he needs to do for the
good of the couple and the guests. She has no doubt.
The guests, on the other hand, have not had any
previous evidence and must rely on Jesus’ miracle to have faith.
The question for us is, do we need to have physical evidence before we
have faith in Him? Is that what helps us to deepen our
faith? Is that what it takes? Or, are we able to grow in
faith by other means such as reading Scripture, daily prayer,
attendance at weekend liturgies? Perhaps a good analogy is asking
ourselves what we need to deepen our love for our spouse or
children? So they need to perform great deeds to impress us?
This week, let us take some time to reflect on what
we need for our faith journey. Let us ask ourselves some serious
questions about faith. We cannot run from this question. It
is central to our spiritual life.
Question
for Children? What does the story of Cana teach me about
Jesus?
The story of the wedding at Cana is often
misunderstood. Rather than zeroing in on the idea that Jesus
turned water into wine, try to steer your children to the presence of
Jesus’ mother and her vital part in this story. The story of Cana
should teach us to be like Mary. What does she do? How does
she respond to the servants? Despite Jesus’ apparent indifference
to the situation, how does Mary react? This lesson is about
asking for the things we see others need, having faith that Jesus is
able to respond and trusting that he will even when we think he is
indifferent to the matter.

are FREE. The producers of this material do this as a ministry in
order that we are able to benefit from their work. We received
these from a generous parishioner who is willing to share her
findings. The topics include talks on the Sacraments, Conversion,
The Rosary etc. You can keep it as long as you want to and you
