Parish office hours
    Our parish office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The Pastoral Associate is in most afternoons until 4:00 PM. If you need to come in the PM please give us a call to make sure someone is here. Messages can always be left on the answering machine.

     Are you new to our parish?   If you are, please pick up a registration form in the vestibule of the church. Registration is very important. Just drop it in the basket or mail it to our office. Thanks! We are always happy to receive new parishioners. We welcome you and pray you will be happy here with us.

Summer Mass Schedule
    After serious discussion at our last Pastoral Council Meeting, it was determined that the 6 PM Mass will be eliminated during the Summer time. The attendance is extremely low and it is anticipated that it will be even lower during the summer months. (Attendance at the 6:00 pm Mass on Saturday, May 26th was 21 including all children and adults.) Therefore, the last 6 PM Mass on Saturday will be Saturday, June16, 2007. The Mass will resume after Labor Day.
    Please remember that your weekly offering will be returned to St. Paul’s if you attend St. Peter Parish and use envelops. Simply dropping loose cash into the basket in another parish is impossible to track.
    The summer schedule at St. Peter Parish is as follows:

    Sunday morning      - 8:00 AM

Christian Formation News

2006-2007 Schedule (click here)

Grades K – High School
All children from grade K – the end of Confirmation must register. The registration does not roll over from one year to the next. You can pick up a form in the back of the church or you can visit the parish office Monday – Thursday during office hours or give us a call at 483-8481 and ask us to mail you a form. We would be happy to do this

Grades K- 3 Classes for children in these grades have class every week between September 30 and May 15th except Christmas and Easter. The children in grades 1 and 2 must attend regularly is they are to be prepared for their First Communion at the end of grade two. This is a two year program.

Grades 4 – 10 + The classes are held once a month and the program is geared to the entire family. Parents are strongly urged to attend the sessions as there is an adult component to the program which helps them to deepen their knowledge of the faith as well as making it possible for them to compliment the practice of the faith in the home. Our last class for this school year was on Sunday, April 15th in Auburn. We will resume classes in September.

Question of the Week
Feast of the Most Holy Trinity
Theme: ( God is Love)
Reading 1: Proverbs 8:22-31 It seemed right to the Holy Spirit and us not to burden you beyond what is essential)
Reading 2: Romans 5:1-5 (To God through Jesus Christ in the love which is poured out through the Spirit!)
Gospel: John 16: 12-15 (The Father and I are one and the Holy Spirit will receive what I give and tell you about it.)

Question for Adults: Today we celebrate the relationship of love among the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. When, this coming week, will you create time to listen to and experience God’s love for you?   Having to create time to love others may sound unnatural but in this hectic world it is the reality of life. Stop for a few minutes each day, perhaps in the morning before you begin your hectic schedule, and tell God that you want to listen first of all to Him in order to experience his love for you. If you can do this you will also be able to hear others telling you the same.

Question for the Teens: Love is not as easy to practice as it is to feel. Who are the people in your life that you feel a need to reconcile with because you love them but simply being human has made it difficult for you to practice love? First of all, loving others as God loves us is not synonymous to being in love. The later refers to erotic love. This is not the point at hand this Sunday. Secondly, loving others does not necessarily have to be connected to ‘feeling’ something. It simply means that we want the happiness of the other person and we are willing to sacrifice ourselves to help this come to fruition. Are there any people in your life that you are having problems ‘loving’ lately? What is causing the problem? What is standing in the way of loving?

Question for Children?     God fills us with love. How, this week, will you show your family – your mom, dad, brothers, sisters, grandparents, cousins – that you love them as God loves them? Help your child to think of a variety of ways to show their love to different people in their family. Stress the notion of sincerity with your child. Also, stress that God does not hold back simply because someone hurt him. This last point might need a little discussion.

Notre Dame College Alumni Reunion . . .The Notre Dame College Association of Alumni and Friends will hold its fifth annual reunion on Saturday, July 14, 2007, at St. George’s Manor, Island Pond Road in Manchester. All alumni and friends are invited to attend this year’s reunion. The Association was formed following the closure of the College in 2002. While the College doors have closed, the Notre Dame Family is thriving and growing. The Association maintains its affiliation with the Congregation of Sisters of Holy Cross. Our mission is to provide continuing communication with and activities for its members, and to promote opportunities for community service as nurtured at NDC. Please Pray. . . for the defeat of House Bill 184. Call your state senator immediately and ask them to vote against the Repeal of parental notification. This bill seeks to overturn parental notification, which requires a parent be notified 48 hours before a minor child has an abortion. Although this law was never enforced because of a lawsuit by Planned Parenthood, please tell your senator you want the state to protect parental rights. Studies show that minor abortions go down 16% when parental involvement laws are in place.

Catholic Charities Appeal The annual NH Catholic Charities appeal was held on the weekend of April 28-29. As you well know, the parish has a good reputation of being generous with the less fortunate in our midst. The Catholic Charities organization has an excellent track record for spending its money on those who need it the most. Very little is used for administrative purposes while none is used frivolously. If you were not here on the weekend of the appeal, please take a brochure at the entrance of the church. Your donation can be sent directly to the CC office or it can be returned in the collection basket. Helping the less fortunate is a mandate we received from the Scriptures, a mandate you have often proven you take seriously. I am sure that you will take this appeal to heart and be as generous as possible

A Look at Upcoming Events

Summer Special for All Women
The Women’s Biblical Ministry of Ste. Marie Church welcomes all Women to a Two-Part Series presented by Cheryl A. Geary. Her reflections entitled: Understanding the
21st Century Christian Woman and Celebrating Today’s Authentic Christian Woman will be drawing from both ancient and contemporary sources. She will explore the profound nature, character, and practical life of Christian women in the modern world. Cheryl will include Edith Stein’s “Essays on Woman” Pope John Paul II’s writings expressly to women, and the recent publication “The Authentic Catholic Woman” by Genevieve Kineke.
Come and share with us as we grow in our knowledge of what it means to be a Christian Woman and celebrate the process of becoming all that we are meant to be.
Part I – June 16th and Part II on June 23rd.

27th Annual Scout Retreat
All Boy Scouts Girl Scouts in grades 5 – 12, and adult leaders, are invited to the 27th Annual High Adventure Scout Retreat Fri. Sept. 14 – Sun. Raymond Headstart. . . We are Looking for students for the Fall!!! Head Start is a free comprehensive child and family program for preschool aged children, including those with special needs, from families whose income do not exceed the federal guidelines ($20,650 family of four). Head Start provides developmentally appropriate activities and education for children in a classroom setting. Additionally Head Start provides Health & Nutrition Services, Disability Services, Social Services, Family & Community Partnerships, and Parent Involvement & Parenting support.
