envelops.

The RCIA Process (the
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. . . is a process through which
adults or older children become more familiar with the truths and
theological teachings of the Catholic Church. The program was
developed for persons seeking full initiation in the church whether or
not they may have been baptized in another Christian
denomination. If you of someone you know thinks or feels that it
is the time to take this step, or is you would simply want more
information before committing yourself, please contact Lorette at
483-8481 or see her after Sunday Mass.
Catholic Charities Update
The Catholic Charities annual appeal is well
under way. Since the end of April we, as a parish, have donated a
total of $8,385.00 including cash and pledges. Many of you have
been very generous with your donations. The more needy of the
diocese will benefit from your generosity.
If you have not yet made a contribution please
consider making one at this time. We will be accepting
contributions for some time yet. This year, our goal as a parish
is $15,000. 00. We have always been able to meet our goal in the
past. There is no reason why we would not be able to do so again
this year. Again, thank you very much for your generosity to the
more needy.

Grades K – High School
All children from grade K – the end of
Confirmation must register. The registration does not roll
over from one year to the next. You can pick up a form in the
back of the church or you can visit the parish office Monday – Thursday
during office hours or give us a call at 483-8481 and ask us to mail
you a form. We would be happy to do this
Grades K- 3 Classes for children
in these grades have class every week between September 30 and May 15th
except Christmas and Easter. The children in grades 1 and 2 must
attend regularly is they are to be prepared for their First Communion
at the end of grade two. This is a two year program.
Grades 4 – 10 + The classes
are held once a month and the program is geared to the entire family.
Parents are strongly urged to attend the sessions as there is an adult
component to the program which helps them to deepen their knowledge of
the faith as well as making it possible for them to compliment the
practice of the faith in the home. Our last class for this
school year was on Sunday, April 15th in Auburn. We will resume
classes in September.

Question of the Week
14th
Sunday of Ordinary Time
Theme: (We are called to evangelize)
Reading 1: Isaiah 66: 10-14 ( I will send toward Jerusalem peace
like a river.)
Reading 2: Galatians 6: 14-18 (The marks I carry on my body are
those of Jesus Christ.
Gospel: Luke 10:1-12, 17-20 (Your peace will rest upon
them.)
Question
for Adults:
This week we celebrated Independence Day in our country.
Sometimes it is easier to be independent than to follow the call of
Jesus. When, this past week, did you invite another person to
pray with you or to come to Mass with you?
Many of us shy away from “intruding” in the spiritual lives of others
even of our children. There are probably many reasons for
this. One very important one which is often at the top of the
list is that we don’t want to make enemies. Isn’t it strange that
we don’t mind making enemies when it comes to money or our personal
space or other “personal” matters. Of course, the other
side of that coin is that we don’t want to be accused of preaching what
we don’t practice. Inviting others to join us in some kind of
prayerful moment should not be that threatening. If it is done
with sincerity and gentleness we would probably be surprised that
others do not really mind being invited. They can always decline.
Question for the Teens: Many families are
spending time together this week. Since the 4th of July fell in
the middle of the week, many families chose to celebrate on the
weekend, perhaps this weekend. Jesus invites us to tell other
people about him. When did you pray this week with your family
and when will you pray today? Perhaps there were so many
things going on that you forgot to pray at all. Simply reminding
the people gathered for a meal that it would be nice to say Grace
before meals is all you need to do to remind others that God is with
them on these special family occasions.
Question
for Children? Jesus sent the disciples out into the
world, but told them that it wouldn’t be an easy job. How have
you shared your faith with others this past week? Was it more difficult
that you thought?
| Our Food Pantry is Bare. . . Our
food pantry is presently
pretty bare. We would appreciate just about anything except peas
and
string beans and pasta. We have plenty of that. Please
consider bring
a donation next time you come. If you would rather give a
monetary
contribution, that is fine. I will be glad to supply what we need
the
most. Thanks so much. |

Association of Alumni and Friends will hold its fifth annual reunion on
Saturday, July 14, 2007, at St. George’s Manor, Island Pond Road in
Manchester. All alumni and friends are invited to attend this

Cross. Our mission is to provide continuing communication with
and activities for its members, and to promote opportunities for
community service as nurtured at NDC. Alumni and other interested
persons are invited to visit our website at www.ndcalumniandfriends.com.
The home page contains information regarding the reunion and membership
opportunities, as well as the ability to register online. In
addition, interested alums may email the organization at info@ndcalumniandfriends.com,
and persons who do not have internet access may call Claire Bourque at

A
Look at Upcoming Events
Camp Phoenix. . .A Weekend Camp for Grieving Families – Sept. 7 – 9
The Phoenix, a legendary bird of
Greek Mythology, was brilliantly colored and lived many hundreds of
years. Upon dying, the bird was cremated and a new Phoenix arose
from the ashes making the legend one of death and renewal.
Those of us facing the death of a loved one, find
our families and ourselves on a journey that may be overwhelming and
debilitating. The hard work of grieving may drain our resources
at every level. Camp Phoenix is a healthy opportunity for
individuals and families to heal by facing the challenges of their
loss.
Camp Phoenix will be celebrated at Wanakee
Conference Center in conveniently located Meredith, NH, offering the
natural beauty and peace of lakes and the forest along with complete
accessibility. Several activities, including hikes, high ropes,
arts and crafts and music will help people to focus on the range of
emotions, feelings and issues arising from loss.
Evenings will center on the campfire where we will
remember and tell stories of our loved ones and seek to let go of some
of the regrets that may still linger. Later, the adolescents and
adults will gather to gave at the stars and learn of their role through
the ages in dealing with loss.
We welcome families with children from infants
through 21 years of age. It is our belief that in having families
who have experienced a loss gather together we can promote healthy ways
of grieving and draw upon each other’s strengths. The VNA Hospice
program will provide this wonderful opportunity at no cost to those who
attend. Childcare will be provided.
