Rice Bowl
Collection:
Now that the Lenten season has passed it is time to return the Rice
Bowls. There is no real need to return the boxes
themselves. You can simply put the money you collected or saved
in the envelop that came with the package. If you do not have a
Rice Bowl envelop you can use a regular white envelop and label
it as Rice Bowl.
Thank you very much for your generosity to those
less fortunate in our world. You can be sure that Catholic Relief
Services will make every penny count for their good.

Grades K – High School
All children from grade K – 10 must register.
The registration does not roll
over from one year to the next. You can pick up a form in the
back of the church or you can visit the parish office Monday – Thursday
during office hours or give us a call at 483-8481 and ask us to mail
you a form. We would be happy to do this
Grades K- 3 The children in
grades K – 3 attend classes during the weekend liturgies. We use
a Lectionary Catechesis which is based on the Gospel of the week.
Kindergarten students are not obliged to attend regularly.
However, beginning with grade l, students must attend classes on a
weekly basis as the program for 1st Communion is a two year
program. It is vital that students continue with their Christian
Formation even after their 1st Communion. This year’s
program will
begin on September
15, 2007
Grades 4 – 10 + This year’s
program for the Generations of Faith begins on Sunday, October 7,
2007 at 4:00 pm. This program is designed for both parents
and children. Parents are asked to attend the sessions as they
have the opportunity to refresh their memory on important matters of
the faith . Please join us on one Sunday per month. Next
Month's session is on April 13th. This will be our last
session for the school year.

Question of the Week
4th
Sunday of Easter
Theme: (Abundant Life in Christ)
Reading I: Acts 2:1, 36-41 (Peter testifies)
Reading II: 1 Peter: 2:20-25 (Returning to the Shepherd)
Gospel: John 10: 1-10(The Gate for the Sheep)
Question
for Adults:
In what circumstances am I most likely to forget my value in God’s
eyes? What can I do to remember God’s love? Our
personal image of self often fluctuates with our moods and
experiences. When we are proud of ourselves we have no problem
believing that God values us. When we have failed in some way we
begin to doubt of value in his eyes. Recognizing these times is a
good beginning. Remembering that God loves us is quite another
matter.
Question
for Children?
Do I realize that I am the fortunate sheep who is loved
and guided by Jesus, my shepherd? Perhaps the only experience
you child has had with sheep are the annual visits to county
fairs. Consequently you may want to begin this discussion by
speaking about the characteristics of sheep and their need for their
shepherd. As in everything else, not all shepherds are cut from
the same cloth. Sheep who fall into the hands of a good and
loving shepherd are very fortunate. Jesus is that kind of
shepherd and we are very much like sheep.
Where does the term
“Lamb of God” originate? In the Old Testament the
Israelites used sheep and goats to offer sacrifices to God although the
Lamb was considered to be the ideal gift. The expression
scapegoat which refers to an individual who carries the blame or guilt
of others was adopted by the Israelites in their ritual
ceremonies. In the ceremony, the High Priest laid hands over the
animal and transferred the guilt of the Israelite people and then
banished the animal to the desert so that it would “carry away” the
people’s sins. Since Jesus was given the mission of saving us
from our sinfulness, he became known as the Lamb that was to be offered
in sacrifice on the altar. This no doubt replaced the idea of
banishing the animal to the desert. In both instances the animal
or person serves as the scapegoat and is sent to his death in order to
save the people.
