Parish office hours
    Our parish office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The Pastoral Associate is in most afternoons until 4:00 PM. If you need to come in the PM please give us a call to make sure someone is here. Messages can always be left on the answering machine.

Trinity High School Open House
Trinity High School, located at 581 Bridge St. in Manchester, NH will be having an Open House for all 8th grade students who are interested in our High School for the year 2010-2011. The Open House will be on Wednesday, October 28th at 7 pm. Please plan to join us.

Prayer for Priests

Most gracious and loving Father,
We thank you for our faithful priests whose spiritual fatherhood and example of fidelity, self-sacrifice, and devotion is so vital to the faith of your people. May they be guided by the examples of Saints Peter and Paul and all the apostles. Give them valiant faith in the face of confusion and conflict, hope in time of trouble and sorrow, and steadfast love for you, for their families, and for all your people throughout the world. May the light of your Truth shine through their lives and their good works. Assist all priests, that that through your Grace they may steadily grow in holiness and in knowledge and understanding of your Truth. May they generously share their knowledge with those who rely on them. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Christian Formation News

Class Schedule (click here)

All children from k – 10 must register for Religious Education each year. The registration does not roll over from one year to the next. We will be mailing a registration form through e-mail in the near future. If you have not received a form by mid-August it is because we do not have your e-mail address or perhaps you are not yet registered in the parish so we do not have any pertinent information related to you family. You can call the office between Monday –Thursday at 483-8481 to update your e-mail info or you can pick up a registration in the entrance of the church.

Grades K- 3 The children in grades K – 3 attend classes during the weekend liturgies. We use a Lectionary Catechesis which is based on the Gospel of the week. Kindergarten students are not obliged to attend regularly. However beginning with grade 1, students must attend classes on a weekly basis during the Mass, as the program for 1st Communion is a two year program. The program for the school year 2009-2010 will begin on the weekend of September 19th and 20th. Classes are held during both weekend Masses. We would need some volunteers to help out as monitors during the classes. Please contact the office if you can do this.

Grades 4 – 10 +, Generation of Faith    This program is designed for both parents and children. Parents who have children in grades 4 - 10 are asked to attend these monthly sessions. The adult session gives them an opportunity to refresh their memory on important matters of the faith as well as giving them the chance to share with other adults on pertinent issues of faith. All GoF classes are held on Sundays from 4 – 6 pm. Our 1st class is October 18, 2009.

Confirmation Program:
    The Confirmation students will begin their two year program on Sunday, September 27, 2009. All students must be registered by September 27th. Second year students must have completed year one in full, i.e., two classes per month from September through April. Attendance at Generation of Faith only does not satisfy the requirements for Confirmation. All students are also asked to attend Mass on a weekly basis. There are registration forms in the entrance of the church.

Question for Adults: What do I do to promote, protect, and nurture marriage?
Sadly, marriage has become a very seriously damaged institution. As Christians we must do what we can to help promote and protect it. There are many things we can do to nurture our own marriage. Very often we neglect this important aspect of our lives. We can also teach our children by our example and guide them with our encouraging words
We should also strive to encourage our friends in their married lives. Of course, we must remember that prayer is always at the core of our marriage.

Question for Children: How have my parents helped me to understand how much God loves me?
This question presents a beautiful opportunity for parents to sit with their child and to explain to them that the love of their parents for them is a great example of the love God has for them. Take the time to give them concrete examples of this love that includes concern, affection, self-sacrifice but also the need to reprimand and disciple for their own well being. God’s love is unconditional and always there.

Community News

Do You Like to Sing?
Our choir is in need of a few people, both men and women, who are willing to join us for Sunday morning Mass. We usually practice before the Mass. If you have a little extra time on Sunday mornings we would love to have you join us. As long as you can carry a tune you are qualified. If you love to sing you are even better. You don’t need to worry about singing solo or any other embarrassing situation. We enjoy what we do and we enjoy our time together. Just see Becky after Mass or come early and join in the rehearsal.

RCIA–Rite of Christian Initiation for Adult
The Rite of Christian Initiation takes place yearly at the Easter Vigil – Holy Saturday evening. This is the time when adults who have never been baptized in the Christian faith are baptized. It is also the time when baptized Christians of other denominations are welcomed into the Catholic Church as they make a public profession of faith. This rite is also offered to baptized Catholics who were not fully initiated into the church(never made their First Communion or Confirmation). If Confirmation is the only sacrament they have not received, there will be a special course given for them during the year and an adult Confirmation will be held at the Cathedral on a later time in the year. If you or someone you know is a candidate for the Rite of Initiation or if your are interested in finding out more of what it entails please call the parish office and speak to Lorette. Our first meeting will be Tuesday evening on September 22, at 6:30 pm.

A Look at Upcoming Events

Attention all Parents: The Upper room, a family resource center will be offering an active Parenting workshop on October 5 and 19th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. There is a $30 fee for the workshop.This workshop will show you discipline methods that work, how to prevent tantrums, how to care for you child at different stages and Great ways to take care of yourself!

The Sisters of the Holy Cross will have their Fall Fair, which is a major fundraiser to benefit the community. It will be held at the Holy Cross Center on 357 Island Pond Rd. in Manchester, NH on Saturday, October 17 from 9 am – 4 pm. There will be a Penny Sale, Crafts, Games, sister’s Lollipops etc. There is free parking and free admission

Attention: Vendors/Crafters Needed    The St. Lawrence Church Social committee is sponsoring their annual Parish Christmas shopping Fair on Saturday, November 7th from 9 am – 3 pm. Anyone interested in selling their products and/or crafts (e.g., Longaberger, Tupperware, Arbonne, Collectibles, etc. should contact Monique Bunton @ 603-497-3382 by October 9, 2009. Faithlift 2009 An ecumenical mini-conference for women of all ages. Join us to share and explore our spiritual journeys on Sunday, October 4 from 2- 5 pm. At Montminy Hall (Hevey Hall, Ste. Marie Church, Manchester, NH.
   The featured speaker and singer will be Paulie Heath. All of us go through change in all the stages of our lives. Life is changing continually around us. There are changes brought about by the birth of a child, the loss of employment, a new job, a new location, graduating from college, a change of leadership in our faith community, the death of a loved one, etc. We all have to deal with change in the seasons of our lives, even when it is unwelcome and uncomfortable. As a caterpillar waiting in the tight space of the chrysalis, you may find yourself in the dark, waiting for wings to grow. At this year’s Faithlift conference, we will explore how to patiently grow wings as the seasons change in our lives. God has a wonderful plan for all of us – to live, to grow and to fly as we wait on Him. Come and be encouraged as we learn to fly. There is a $20 suggested donation. Our Source and summit. . . a day long Conference on the Eucharist, will be held at Ste. Marie Church in Manchester beginning at 9:00 am on November 7th, 2009. the cost of the event is $20 per person, ($25 within 2 weeks of the event) or $60 per family for continental breakfast, lunch, the Conference, and the evening concert. Attendance for the concert only is $10. Dinner will be made available for an additional small fee. Speakers will include Bob and Penny Lord (EWTN and Journeys of Faith Ministries), Bishop Robert Hennessey (Auxiliary Bishop, Boston Archdiocese), and Dr. Hugo Poza (Ste. Marie Parish). Music will be provided by the Magdalen College Choir. Mass will be celebrated by Bishop McCormack at 4 pm followed by an evening concert by the Magdalen college Choir.

St. Thomas Aquinas Parish located at 21 Crystal Ave, Derry, NH will hold their annual Candy Cane Craft Fair in the Aquinas Center on November 21, 2009 from 9 am – 3 pm. Included are 45 craft tables, multiple raffles, homemade baked goods, lunch items and a Children’s craft making table.

Message from Hospice of VNA of Manchester & Southern NH. We will start a free Hospice Volunteer Training Course on Saturday, October 10, from 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m., and continue every Tuesday morning 9:30 to 12:00 noon through December 1st at VNA 33 South Commercial Street, Manchester, NH.
    This comprehensive training program will equip participants with the necessary skills to provide non-medical aid and support to terminally ill individuals and their caregivers. Trained volunteers will work with the hospice team of health care professionals to provide emotional support, respite care, as well as grief and bereavement support to family members.
    Any interested member of the community including homemakers, retirees, college students, professionals and couples who have the desire to provide such an important service are invited to explore Hospice Volunteering.
