Prayer for Priests
Most gracious and loving Father,
We thank you for our faithful priests whose
spiritual fatherhood and example of fidelity, self-sacrifice, and
devotion is so vital to the faith of your people. May they be
guided by the examples of Saints Peter and Paul and all the
apostles. Give them valiant faith in the face of confusion and
conflict, hope in time of trouble and sorrow, and steadfast love for
you, for their families, and for all your people throughout the
world. May the light of your Truth shine through their lives and
their good works. Assist all priests, that that through your
Grace they may steadily grow in holiness and in knowledge and
understanding of your Truth. May they generously share their
knowledge with those who rely on them. We ask this through Christ
our Lord. Amen

All children from k – 10 must register for
Religious Education each year. The registration does not
roll over from one year to the next. We will be mailing a
registration form through e-mail in the near future. If you have
not received a form by mid-August it is because we do not have your
e-mail address or perhaps you are not yet registered in the parish so
we do not have any pertinent information related to you family.
You can call the office between Monday –Thursday at 483-8481 to update
your e-mail info or you can pick up a registration in the entrance of
the church.
Grades K- 3 The children in
grades K – 3 attend classes during the weekend liturgies. We use
a Lectionary Catechesis which is based on the Gospel of the week.
Kindergarten students are not obliged to attend regularly. However
beginning with grade 1, students must attend classes on a weekly basis
during the Mass, as the program for 1st Communion is a two year
program. The program for the school year 2009-2010
will begin on the weekend of September 19th and 20th.
Classes are held during both weekend Masses. We would need some
volunteers to help out as monitors during the classes. Please
contact the office if you can do this.
Grades 4 – 10 +, Generation of Faith
This program is designed for both parents and
children. Parents who have children in grades 4 - 10 are
asked to attend these monthly sessions. The adult session gives them an
opportunity to refresh their memory on important matters of the faith
as well as giving them the chance to share with other adults on
pertinent issues of faith. All GoF classes
are held on Sundays from 4 – 6 pm. Our next class will be
held on February 14th.
Confirmation Program:
The Confirmation students will begin their two year
program on Sunday, September 27, 2009. All
students must be
registered by September 27th. Second year students must have
completed year one in full, i.e., two classes per month from September
through April.
Attendance at Generation of Faith only does
not satisfy the requirements for Confirmation. All students are
also asked to attend Mass on a weekly basis. If students have not
yet registered they must now wait for next year’s program as it is too
late to complete this year’s requirements.

Question of the Week
2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Theme: (Revealed Glory)
Reading: Isaiah 62:1-5 (The Lord Delights in You)
Reading II: Corinthians 12: 4-11(Spiritual Gifts)
Gospel: John: 2: 1-11 (the Wedding at Cana)
Question
for Adults:
What do I need to do to let God’s communication, or revelation, come
into my life? There
is a large majority of people who complain of having difficulty knowing
or recognizing the times when God actually communicate or “speaks” to
them. Being attentive to God and his message is not an easy thing
to do for human beings. It becomes all the more difficult when we
are overly stressed or anxious or too busy with a million things in our
life. “Listening” to God must be done within the quiet of our
being. This is what it means to listen with our heart. Can
we quiet ourselves long enough to hear God’s voice within
us?
Question
for Children:
Where can I hear God talking to me? How should I pay special
attention to what God tells me? Very often God talks to us
through other people. People such as our parents, our relatives,
and our teachers can all be instruments of God’s word. Of
course, we can always hear God speaking to us when we come to
church. For this to happen we must spend some time praying and
then pay attention to what God may be telling us.
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
This week we celebrate the week of prayer for
Christian Unity. The church Unity Octave, a forerunner of the
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, was developed by Father Paul
Watson, SA, at Graymoor in Garrison, NY, and was first observed at
Graymoor from January 18-25, 1908. Today, the week of Prayer for
Christian Unity invites the whole Christian community throughout the
world to pray in communion with the prayer of Jesus “that they all may
be one” (John 17:21).
The theme for the annual celebration of the Week of
Prayer for Christian Unity 2010 has been announced by the Pontifical
Council for Promoting Christian Unity and the commission on Faith and
Order of the World Council of Churches. The theme for the 2010
Week of Prayer is You Are Witnesses of These Things. It comes
from Luke’s gospel chapter 24 verse 48. This is also the theme
which Scottish Christians have chosen to celebrate the centenary of the
Edinburgh Mission Conference.
If you would like to join the world wide church in her prayer for unity
this week, we will reflect each day on chapter 24 of Luke’s gospel
stopping at the questions which it asks: Jesus questions to his
disciples; the questions the apostles ask of Christ.
Each of these allows us to highlight a particular way of witnessing to
Christ. Each invites us to think about our situation of church
division and how we can remedy it.
Our Food Pantry If you would like to
help our food pantry, we especially need Canned Soup, Tuna, Instant
Rice and Potatoes, canned pastas and Spaghetti sauce. We can
always use juice. Thank you so much for your generosity.
You have no idea how appreciative people are when they come and we have
something to offer.
