“Life in the Spirit” Seminar
Saint Catherine of Siena Parish in Manchester is hosting a “Life in the
Spirit” seminar on the weekend of Feb. 13 -14. This is a weekend
retreat, that when approached with an open and sincere heart, will help
to deepen your relationship with Jesus and reawaken the gifts, fruits,
and charisms of the Holy Spirit given to you at your baptism and
confirmation. In a word, the seminar enables you to strengthen
your faith through an experience of a “personal Pentecost”. For
more information about the retreat, including registration, schedule
for the weekend, events and presentation topics, please visit our
website at www.saintcatherines.org,
under “spiritual Growth”.

Prayer for Priests
Most gracious and loving Father,
We thank you for our faithful priests whose
spiritual fatherhood and example of fidelity, self-sacrifice, and
devotion is so vital to the faith of your people. May they be
guided by the examples of Saints Peter and Paul and all the
apostles. Give them valiant faith in the face of confusion and
conflict, hope in time of trouble and sorrow, and steadfast love for
you, for their families, and for all your people throughout the
world. May the light of your Truth shine through their lives and
their good works. Assist all priests, that that through your
Grace they may steadily grow in holiness and in knowledge and
understanding of your Truth. May they generously share their
knowledge with those who rely on them. We ask this through Christ
our Lord. Amen

All children from k – 10 must register for
Religious Education each year. The registration does not
roll over from one year to the next. We will be mailing a
registration form through e-mail in the near future. If you have
not received a form by mid-August it is because we do not have your
e-mail address or perhaps you are not yet registered in the parish so
we do not have any pertinent information related to you family.
You can call the office between Monday –Thursday at 483-8481 to update
your e-mail info or you can pick up a registration in the entrance of
the church.
Grades K- 3 The children in
grades K – 3 attend classes during the weekend liturgies. We use
a Lectionary Catechesis which is based on the Gospel of the week.
Kindergarten students are not obliged to attend regularly. However
beginning with grade 1, students must attend classes on a weekly basis
during the Mass, as the program for 1st Communion is a two year
program. The program for the school year 2009-2010
will begin on the weekend of September 19th and 20th.
Classes are held during both weekend Masses. We would need some
volunteers to help out as monitors during the classes. Please
contact the office if you can do this.
Grades 4 – 10 +, Generation of Faith
This program is designed for both parents and
children. Parents who have children in grades 4 - 10 are
asked to attend these monthly sessions. The adult session gives them an
opportunity to refresh their memory on important matters of the faith
as well as giving them the chance to share with other adults on
pertinent issues of faith. All GoF classes
are held on Sundays from 4 – 6 pm. Our next class will be
held on February 14th.
Confirmation Program:
The Confirmation students will begin their two year
program on Sunday, September 27, 2009. All
students must be
registered by September 27th. Second year students must have
completed year one in full, i.e., two classes per month from September
through April.
Attendance at Generation of Faith only does
not satisfy the requirements for Confirmation. All students are
also asked to attend Mass on a weekly basis. If students have not
yet registered they must now wait for next year’s program as it is too
late to complete this year’s requirements.

Question of the Week
5th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Theme: (Following Christ)
Reading: Isaiah 6:1-8 (Here I Am)
Reading II: I Cor. 15: 1-11 (Reminded of the Gospel)
Gospel: Luke 5: 1- 11 (The Call of the Fishermen)
Question
for Adults:
Who in my life needs to know the love of God? How can I share my
faith with them?
We all know people who could benefit from God’s love and
compassion. How often do we hear people say, “If it weren’t for
my faith, I don’t know how I would have gotten through this
situation. We all know what this means and if our faith if strong
we believe it sincerely. If we know someone who is struggling
with issues of life, whether they be sickness, unhealthy relationships,
finances etc. why not share your own faith experiences? Done in a
loving and compassionate way, sharing our faith never hurts.
Question
for Children:
Do I realize that when I share my faith I draw others closer to
God? Sometime children do not always realize that their
behavior reflects to others. The younger the child the less they
are able to see this. This week, why not sit with your child and
talk to them about this topic. Ask them what they see in others
behaviors and how it affects them. It is surprising how children
can understand the concept once it is presented to them.
Our Food Pantry If you would like to
help our food pantry, we especially need Canned Soup, Tuna, Instant
Rice and Potatoes, canned pastas and Spaghetti sauce. We can
always use juice. Thank you so much for your generosity.
You have no idea how appreciative people are when they come and we have
something to offer.
