What a truly beautiful day we had on Monday May 21 at Churchill Valley Country Club. That was the day of our annual golf classic. The weather was simply the best, the course was in fine condition and the food was just tremendous.

It takes many people to put on a fundraising golf outing like ours, and I want to take this time to thank everybody who helped to make this a success. All sponsors who gave so generously especially our Platinum sponsors, Rodella, Sitko and Bruno, LLC; Jim Kren and the DVE morning show, and The Edward Dunlap Foundation. Those who donated various prizes including Mr. David Scheuring who followed in his father Bill’s footsteps by making the beautiful set of custom made golf clubs and Bill Bishop who donated a trip to Cancun, Mexico. As I mentioned there were many others who volunteered and donated various gifts and donations of money. To all who helped us we are deeply thankful for all that you do. A special thank you to Dave Meloni, Chair of the golf committee and the golf committee members, Cookie Rauscher, Bonnie Babik, Ruthann Burkey, Joe DiMario, Bill Goyette, John Major and Vince Massaro. And lastly we thank you the golfers who came and enjoyed yourselves at this year’s annual golf classic. Please come back next year and bring a friend.

Each year this golf outing is one of our major fundraisers and it helps us to make ends meet as we strive to balance our books. But we still face a dramatic deficit in general operating due in part to costs beyond our control including across the board increases of varying amounts to pay for gasoline increases that we are charged by every one of our vendors, increases in insurances and in general increases in utilities. For this reason it is necessary to ask for a small increase in the suggested retreat weekend stipend of $5.00 per person or from $160.00 to $165.00. Although we are asking for a small increase in the stipend we still ask that those who can give more please do so and those who cannot just to give what you can even if it below the suggested amount. No one will ever be turned away from a retreat if that person doesn’t have the suggested stipend. We calculate that it costs us over $215.00 per retreatant per weekend and we try to make up the difference in various fundraising areas like our annual golf classic.
