2003
- 2004 Theme:
Dwelling
in the Heart of God
(Were
Not Our Hearts Burning?)
Welcome to a new Retreat
Year in which we will celebrate the Heart of God. All of us here at St.
Paul's are looking forward to seeing you and sharing with you the love
God has for all of us.
.
Our world continues
to be a place of danger and alarm. Yet, as disciples of Jesus, we trust
in the providence of God as we seek every opportunity to make the Gospel
felt in the sometimes darkness of the world. We must not become people
of fear or bitterness. More than ever, the vision, language and passions
of Jesus must be proclaimed in our everyday lives. As Christian disciples
of Jesus, in the Passionist tradition, we seek to love where the world
teaches us to fear and hate. Our retreat program will help us find hope,
support and strength as we continue to follow after Jesus.
.
We have adjusted our
program
to emphasize an atmosphere of peace and prayer. The Blessed Sacrament will
be enthroned throughout the days and nights of the retreat. This will give
us a prayerful and reflective atmosphere.
.
We will also deepen
our reflections on the Sacrament of Penance as a sacrament of healing and
peace. The entire program has been designed to support a calm weekend where
all of you might seek the peace that only comes from the heart of God.
.
Our theme this year
is inspired by the Emmaus Walk of Jesus (Luke 24). Jesus walks with his
disciples who are coping with their loss of hope as all their expectations
are shattered. Somehow they could see his crucifixion but not his resurrection.
Well adjusted to grief, they were maladjusted to hope. Our lives are often
like that of the disciples. Yet, with remarkable tenderness, with all the
wisdom of a humane teacher, Jesus walks with them in their grief until
the night of disappointment becomes the day of hope and new
life.
.
Come to St. Paul's this
year, walk in the path of your life, experience the Jesus who walks with
you. He will challenge you, bless you and, most of all, transform you.
.
It would be irresponsible
of me not to thank you for all your past support. One of the ways you have
supported us is by your comments and suggestions. We are most grateful
when you take the time to make suggestions. Your comments help us to make
the Retreat program an even better experience. Many of your sugges-tions
and ideas were incorporated into this year's programs. Again, thank you.
.
In the name of the entire
staff and team of St. Paul's, I welcome you to a new and renewed retreat
year. Please be aware of our prayers, concern and respect as we walk with
Jesus on the road of our lives.
.
Remember, if we can
ever be of assistance to you, do not hesitate to call upon us.
.
Peacefully in Jesus,
Fr. Tom, C.P.

GIFT
CERTIFICATES FOR ST. PAUL'S RETREATS
Some families and retreat groups
are purchasing gift certificates for perspective
weekend retreatants. Not only is this an ideal
way of introducing new people to St. Paul's, but it also helps a
person with limited income. These certificates may be obtained from
our office for $120.00 or lesser amounts. To obtain additional information
please call the Retreat Center at (412) 381-7676 or e-mail us at stpaulrcpa@cpprov.org.

CAR POOLING REQUESTED
WE ASK
THAT RETREATANTS PLEASE USE CAR POOLING IF POSSIBLE
With the larger numbers of retreatants on the
weekend, there is frequently a parking problem with the lot across from
the church. People coming to our weekend masses end up parking on
the streets which causes traffic congestion. we suggest that car
pooling be used by retreat groups whenever possible. Thank you.

A RESERVATION
FEE OD $20.00 IS REQUESTED FOR A WEEKEND RETREAT TO
ASSURE
YOU A ROOM
A reservation fee of $20.00
is requested for a weekend retreat to assure you of a place. We have
been requesting a $20.00 room deposit to ensure a single room for your
weekend retreats, and more and more people are benefiting from this procedure.
However, on weekends when we have a full house, a problem sometimes occurs
with retreatants who have sent deposits, but cancel without calling us.
So, if you must cancel, call us. Reserved rooms with deposits
will be held until 7:00 PM Friday evening unless you notify us that you
will difinitely be here at a later time.
