WONDERFUL DAY of CELEBRATION
September 27th 2003 the Catholic Deaf Community looked back on 55 years
...and celebrated! I hope you caught the beautiful story in The
Catholic Sun (October 2-October 8, 2003) by Eileen Jevis.
St Lucy’s Church was decorated with special care. Fr Peter
Williams celebrated Mass with exuberance. Thank you to all who prepared
and took part!
We have a movie of the Mass, banquet and speeches, and many pictures,
so if you want to see them contact the office!
|
The Banquet was well
attended. It was wonderful to see Sr Margaret
Duffy again and to award her the first Thomas Johns Memorial
Appreciation Award. Fr Peter was really surprised when he also
received the Award!

Fr Tom Coughlin, the first Deaf Catholic priest in the US, wrote this
message:
“I
thank the Syracuse Diocese and the Catholic Deaf Community members for
giving me a gift of inspiration and motivation to become a Roman Catholic
priest. In my days of youth, many priests and sisters and faithful
Catholic Deaf people inspired me to consider a religious vocation in the
Church
and on account of your strong faith and commitment to the Catholic
Church, I felt motivated to complete my goal of becoming a Catholic
priest.
Thank
you very much for your prayers and support. God bless you all.
Love, Fr Tom Coughlin”
THANK YOU CATHOLIC DEAF COMMUNITY!
