THIS & THAT

As I write this, Pope Benedict XVI has just given his first blessing.  May we join with all the others in the world in our prayers for him.
It is an historic time of both sadness at the loss of Pope John Paul II, and also happiness that the Holy Spirit has given us a new pope.
The warmer weather is certainly welcome. In the winter we never know when plans will have to be changed at the last minute, as in the case of the Lenten Gathering in Rome.  Now we can be outside again, and I hope to see many of you at the various Masses and picnics.  Don’t miss all the activities listed in this newsletter!
Please pray for Christopher Hesler who died.  He is the uncle of Matt and Holly and Aaron Cutler.
Prayers and Get Well Wishes for Paul Ryfun who had knee surgery. We hope to see you around!
Thank you to Fr Peter Williams for his visits.
Thank you to the Syracuse K of C Council 12035 for their generous donation for the textbooks used in our religion classes at NYSSD.
Congratulations to this year’s graduates!
Kudos to Joey Romani for receiving the Catholic Youth Leadership Scholarship to LeMoyne.

Blessed are those who can give without remembering

and take without forgetting.

---Elizabeth Bibesco

“The Church and the world have a great need of Eucharistic worship.  Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love.  Let us be generous with our time in going to meet Him in adoration and in contemplation that is full of faith and ready to make reparation for the great faults and crimes of the world.  May our adoration never cease."
      Pope John Paul II
      Dominicae Cenae

Before receiving Communion, say a special prayer:
“Jesus, I firmly believe that You are truly present in this Eucharist.”
Also, to show respect and reverence, make a simple bow of your head.
