Mission Statement
The Diocesan Committee on Scouting and Camp Fire recognizes the importance of faith in Jesus Christ, through the teachings and guidance of the Roman Catholic Church. We believe that active membership in one's church and spiritual development are essential to a healthy, moral personality. We believe that the spiritual values professed and taught by the Church are fundamental to the Boy Scout, Girl Scout, and Camp Fire programs. All of these organizations support basic moral stances which are compatible with the Church's teachings, and with her commitment of service to the People of God.

The Diocesan Committee wishes to encourage youth to actively practice their Catholic faith by worshiping weekly in their parish church and by participating in religious education and youth group activities offered by their parish and through the Diocesan Youth Office.

The Diocesan Committee wishes to encourage both Catholic youth membership in Boy Scout, Girl Scout, and Camp Fire programs and the parishes becoming the sponsoring institution when possible. We especially wish to promote the Religious Awards available through these organizations as a current and viable form of religious education that can enhance the faith life
of Catholic youth.
