Poverty & Work

Poverty & Work

In this life in which priority goes to prayer, the tone is one of poverty and work. The Sisters live in strict poverty and the Monastery must reflect the poverty and humility of the Gospel, for the Sisters have chosen this pathway. In accordance with the tradition of the desert, the work chosen should preferably be manual in nature, leaving the spirit free to be at leisure with God. Besides the usual domestic chores, Sisters use their God given talents and gifts to support the community; craft work, making scapulars, growing vegetables. Part of the apostolate of the Sisters is to receive retreatants and when asked, to give catechetical instruction.
