Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is your Service Free? Yes
2. Is there Advertisement? No Not unless you put it on your web site.
3. What is the catch? There is no catch. This was started to serve the
Catholic Church in general.
4. How do I get a free site? Please see the link for Get a Web Site
5. Does a priest, religious or bishop really have to send a letter? Yes,
this helps verify the Catholicity of your site.
6. Are emails included? Yes, your site includes an email system.
7. Is it Frontpage compatible? No (however we suggest WordPress)
8. Are there space restrictions? No, as long as it is for the Church's work.
9. Will I have technical help? Yes limited access is included
10. Can you call us? No, we handle everything through email to control costs.
11. Can you create a web page for us? Yes. We can refer you to volunteer web
designers that will create it for free.
12. Can we run scripts? Yes
13. Can you host a domain name? Yes
14. Is it reliable? Yes, we have been running a Web Hosting service since
1995 and this hosting is as good as any paid service.
15. How do I get my files onto the web site? Usually through a program
called SFTP ( Secured File Transfer Protocol) You can get a free copy of this
program from http://filezilla-project.org/ . There are many other similar
programs available, both free and paid. Once your site is set up, we can walk you
through the process.
16. My cgi's do not work? Check the permissions on the script (If you are
not sure what this means, do some reading on running cgi's online. Also,
make sure you have an .htaccess file in your main dir. Just create a flat
text file that includes the following lines:
AddType text/html .shtml .htm
AddHandler server-parsed .shtml .htm
AddHandler cgi-script .cgi .pl
Options +ExecCGI
and the cgi should work fine
17. Can I have a MySql database & phpMyAdmin access (I'd like to install Joomla
or similar)? We do not support Joomla, Wordpress, or Drupal installations.
If you are proficient with any of these and MySQL, you may attempt to install
however we are not able to provide support, if you experience any issues.
You must have purchased your own domain name and point the domain name
servers at dns.bizwala.net & dns2.bizwala.net This can not be done as a
subdomain under CCO (ie: www.catholic-church.org/newsite )

1. Where can I find the name/address/phone of a church in a certain town
or their mass times? go to Masstimes.org
2. How do I find the location of a certain priest or religious? Go to your
local parish and ask to use the PJ Kenedy "Official Catholic Directory"
this will list any in the United State
3. How can I support your cause? You may donate to the St. Ambrose Foundation
by sending your check or online via PayPal There is a link on our home page that
makes this easy for you to do.
