SEPTEMBER 27, 2003

 55th ANNIVERSARY of the
 CATHOLIC DEAF COMMUNITY OF THE SYRACUSE DIOCESE
 Special Mass and Banquet 
 

On September 27th we will celebrate 55 years since Fr    Donovan held a meeting in Syracuse.  It is a time to look  back to see where we have been, to see where we are now, and to hope for the future.

Our Guest of Honor will be Sr Margaret Duffy.  She  Sister Margaret Duffyworked hard to pull everything together.

                Mass will be signed by Fr Peter Williams at St Lucy’s
                in Syracuse at 5 PM with Voice Interpretation.
                Dinner will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
                          Maps will be available at St Lucy’s.  

                There will be Entertainment, Raffles, and Door Prizes.

                Dinner Tickets are $25 (none sold at the door) and
                must be reserved by September 8th.   Mail check made

with us in December 2000?
He is a Deaf priest from Michigan.
His parents are Deaf. His story is amazing.
In 2004 he will be in Scranton, PA
In 2005 he will be in Rochester, NY

We hope many will go.  We can get a bus!


NEEDS

Dorothy Lightaul now lives in Vernon and would love to have visitors.

A Deaf person in Ithaca would love to have a ride to a Mass that is interpreted.

THIS & THAT

Hopefully you have all saved September 27th to celebrate our 55th Anniversary!  Fr Donovan started meetings in 1948...and see how we have grown and changed.

The summer was full of many good times...picnics galore, family get-togethers, and much traveling.  It was good for me to see many of you.  I wish I could have made every activity!

Now it will soon be cooler...and the days will shorten.  It is a good time to think of something new.  Maybe the Discussion Group on the Catholic Faith.  Maybe starting a daily Rosary during October.  Maybe volunteering to visit one class at NYSSD. What else can you think of?!

We offer our prayers for the family of Regina Welch whose father Emanuel S Alfieri died August 12th.  May he rest in peace.

Remember that if you or someone you know is in the hospital and wants someone to visit...they MUST tell the nurses!  No one can visit unless they are named!
